Rightful Owner by Hemmie Martin

RightfulOwner_FlatforeBooks"When a murder occurs in an exclusive swinger’s club, DI Wednesday and DS Lennox find themselves immersed in a murky world of sex and secrets. It doesn’t take long for the members to turn on one another, and for their clandestine affairs to come crashing into their everyday lives. As Wednesday experiences the pressures of work and caring for her mother’s mental illness, and Lennox’s ex-wife has him worrying about the sustainability of his role as a father, their case brings about questions of personal freedom and they begin to wonder if we are all, in fact, owned in one way or another."

Rightful Owner by Hemmie Martin is the first of the many books I will hopefully be reviewing for AuthorAmp.com. Rightful Owner was good and I gave it a 4/5 stars. While it took a few chapters to have me riveted, it later kept me on the edge of my seat. No matter how cliche that sounds. It was exciting and I had multiple theories for who was the killer and I was completely wrong, which I loved!

I liked how Martin wrote about a murder surrounding a swinger's club, but it was not all about sex. In fact, Martin suggests at it but does not go into detail. I found this refreshing. I also liked her character development and how her characters did not fall flat. I liked how she also brought up some issues like mental problems, rocky relations with ex-wives or sexy relations with your partner's sister, who happens to be a journalist even if it was more of a side note to the main plot.

The one thing that bugs me was that I read the second book in the series before the first. All well I'll just have to read the first one now! Which is definitely not a problem for me as I want more from DI Wednesday and DS Lennox, who have awesome names by the way.

So before I leave you with goodbye, I recommend that you guys, girls, and everyone in between read it Rightful Owner if this is the genre you like or read it even if you do not usually read this genre because it was definitely enjoyable and well written! Also I would like to thank Hemmie Martin and AuthorAmp for letting me read this in advance of the publishing date.

To purchase this book there will be links below for Amazon US and UK. There will also be the links for the lovely Hemmie Martin herself!

Late Read-A-Thon TBRs! #ProjectTBR #TBRLove

Hi guys, girls, and everyone in between, I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. So it is kind of late to do a TBR for the TBR Love read-a-thon that runs from Valentine's day to the 20th and the Project TBR read-a-thon that runs from the 16th to the 22nd, but I'm going to do it anyway! So I am currently reading The Patmos Deception by Davis Bunn (...yes I know... I am still reading it) and Rising Tide: Dark Innocence by Claudette Melanson and Daniel Chon. If I finish these then I am going to move onto the Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima. Then if I finish that I am going to start Novelty by Shann Hurst. So yeah, that is what I am going to read for those read-a-thons and I am not doing any challenges for the Project TBR read-a-thon. If you are participating in any of these read-a-thons, then good luck and I wish everyone a good end to the month of February! Also I will be posting a mid-February update if anyone is interest!  -Ashley <3

Night of All Evil by J.M. Shorney

My Rating: 3/5 stars Average Rating: 4/5 stars Format: ebook ISBN13: 9781310806902 I received a free copy in exchange for a honest review from AuthorAmp.com Night of All Evil was a good gothic horror novel about a witch named Freya that has a dark past that comes back to haunt her and her family. Freya was my favorite character and I really enjoyed reading from her point of view. The thing I liked about her was how she acted in the situations she is placed in. She also is just an interesting person that also happens to be a super powerful witch, which is pretty cool. In fact once I started this novel, I had a hard time putting it down. While I really enjoyed reading the story, the character development was just okay and it was kind of predictable. However, it was still a good read that grabbed my attention and kept me entertained.                        ...
